Is Sheridan Software a spyware?

My PestPatrol found KeySnatch malware in my registry. The entries
pointed to Sheridan Software active Splitter Control. There is still
sssplt30.ocx in my Windows folder.

Does KeySnatch simply USE Sheridan's control?
Or is Sheridan's control itself a part of the spyware?
