Active X

When I start my pc or try and go to web pages that require
Flah I get a message saying this page may not display
property and that my security settings do not allow active
X to be run.. I cannot install the PX service pack for
the same reason..also I cannot get the windows
updates...all because of the security setting. I have no
idea where to correct this...can some one please help me.
This problem started suddenly ..I am using XP Pro
