Norton Internet security install

I had to reload XP and now cannot install NIS 2004. I have scanned,
defragged, spybotted, and adwared...computer is clean. I keep getting the
following:
Internal error: 2753.SavScan.exe (and a slew of numbers). All of this
happens when the install gets to: RegisterAPService.
Can anyone give me some guidance as Norton is useless. Many thanks
