Runaway Pointer

Pointer has a mind of it's own. Windows XP SP1, HP 3000+ a330n. While playing
games or surfing, pointer takes off as though I have turned over remote
assistance. Even happens when I am not online. I can shake it, and sometimes
it comes back to me. Sometimes it just goes looking around the page. Does
anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?
