Are these program safe.

are the following program trusted and safe to install?

spybot - s&d
ad-aware v6
spysweeper
sygate personal firewall(free version)
tuneup ultilities 2004

i have read the review at download.com and some review said that some of these program causes trouble (i.e. crashes the system or install more spyware). i don't know if i should believe it or not. if there are other better security program out there, can u name a few that are good. i currently have norton antivirus 2003 install that that is all i have. i also turn the built in firewall in windows xp on. those are the only two thing i have to protect my system. i have all the current windwo update.
