ZAP should be all the firewall that you need.

It used to be that you could get by with no on access virus scanner, and
just do a daily on demand scan. But with MSIE vulnerabilities yet to be
patched, and malicious souls salting trusted web sites with Trojans, even an
on access scanner may be ineffective. Until MSFT decides to isolate MSIE
from the OS, you are probably safer using a different browser, rather than
relying on a virus scanner which may not recognize a threat just two hours
after was updated. In any case, AVG is a respectable on access virus
scanner.

Hmmm. Which is better, a hammer, or a saw? Different tools for different
purposes; use a hammer to pound nails into wood, use a saw to cut wood. Or;
use Sygate to protect your computer from malicious unsolicited packets
(hammer|firewall), use AVG to scan for viruses (saw|anti virus).
Because you are already using ZAP, Sygate is not necessary; unless you
intend to replace ZAP with Sygate.
