Hi.
I just ran Spybot S&D for the first time (after using Ad-
aware for so long) and it says it found four things that
I'm not sure what to do about.
Of the two things, both related to a DSO Exploit and that
there's a security hole in IE (Internet Explorer). More
information was found here
http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm001-ie/ but
I don't know much about computers and this all seems alien
to me. More information here on
http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/57981.h
tml
Should I be concerned considering I've had all my critical
patches from Windows Update?
The other thing was Alexa-related so I think I know what
to do with that.
The last thing (and fourth) thing I'm concerned about that
Spybot found was "vupd" that I have read to
be "NewtonKnows," a spyware. I've read on another website
that if I try to remove it manually, that deleting the LSP
used by NewtonKnows will result in a lost Internet
connection. I also find out that this comes with Grokster,
but I don't have Grokster!
Should I let Spybot remove it?
Any help appreciated!
