I think you want to put http://server1/ in the group policy object. I
don't think you want the /autoupdate part. At least that's how I have
it set up, and it's working :-)
I can't tell from your post if this is what you are doing or not, but
you shouldn't be trying to use IE from the client to get updates from
SUS. It doesn't work like windowsupdate.com. If you have the GPO set
up right, the clients just download the updates in the background at the
scheduled time.
If you look in the event log (system log IIRC) on a client, you will be
able to see if it got the updates.
