Note that Hotbar itself is widely considered to be spyware. See
http://www.thundercloud.net/help/hotbar-is-spyware.htm. Have you tried
AdAware (www.lavasoft.de) ? Update it before running a scan, and make sure
you're using the latest version - 6.81. Do you have good antivirus software
running, and do you keep it updated? Run Windows Update regularly to get all
critical patches?

Do you have a firewall protecting your computer from the Internet (all
inbound ports closed except those which are specifically needed)? If your
Yahoo popup blocker isn't working for browser popups, might want to try
http://toolbar.google.com .
