I too see this, but with Win98. The connection request window pops up
after booting up the machine, but before I login. I have tried sniffing
with Ethereal, but nothing appears in the trace. I suspect it may be
Norton AntiVirus waking up.
Also, just recently, Windows Explorer has occasionally caused a
connection request window to pop up when I am deleting files; i.e. I
select the file(s) to be deleted, press the Delete key, the dial-up
connection request window then pops up, and I have to cancel that before
the Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears.
I use ZoneAlarm, and perform a full Norton virus check whenever new
virus signature files are published (almost every day at present).
Should I be worried?
