Having multiple firewalls can actually counteract each
other and cause problems letting things in, choose one and
go with it.
Use one antivirus. Systems like nortons if you use norton
internet security then it has the av and firewall and
thats fine.
Also regularly using spybot and adaware that are kept
updated is good.
If you want a hardware firewall you need to install a
router that comes with a firewall, but if you just get a
good antivirus/firewall that you keep regularly updated
that that should be sufficient.
Of course one thing that goes hand in hand with all this
is awareness. Be aware of what your doing on line and what
you are opening or downloading. You can purposefully(yet
unknowingly) download things past your firewall and
software.
Just stay aware/informed/updated and you should be fine.
