Cannot get into my hotmail account

For some reason, I have recently been unable to access my
hotmail account on my PC. I have broadband access which
is firewalled via XP's own firewall. When I attempt to
log in I get to the following message:

The page cannot be displayed

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
The Web site might be experiencing technical
difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings.

I then try all the suggestions which follow but nothing
changes.

I'd be grateful for any help from anyone. I can access my
account from my laptop and have compared the internet
settings which appear to be identical on both machines.

Thanks
