What is a firewall?

There are a wide variety of sources who will tell you
that you need a firewall because "everyone is out to hack
you". The people who usually say this, are people who
have been brainwashed by marketting tactics themselves,
or are the markettors.

Unless you have sensitive information on your PC, or are
out to start fights with people, you don't need one.

An anti-virus on the other hand, needs to be updated all
the time, as viruses are indiscriminate in who they
target.
