Hi

Your suspicion regarding email address harvesting on the newsgroup is
correct. This is one of the more common ways spammers get email addresses.
This is why valid email addresses should never be advertised in newsgroups.
I dont think anything can be done about removing your email address from the
MS server. Plus it's probably been propagated to other servers as well (not
just Microsoft). Microsoft is just one of the many newsgroup providers. Even
if this was possible, I dont think it helps much since the spammers already
have your email address. About the only thing you can do is live with it, or
get a new email address.

Do a google search on "spam", you would also find things you can do to
minimize spam. This includes pushing for legislation against it (i.e. write
your congressmen, etc.)
