This is because of the way authentication is set for your web.
If you want to allow anonymous access to your web (that is without being
asked for password), you should:
1. Open properties of your web site
2. Click Directory Security tab.
3. Click Edit in "Anonymous access and authentication control"
4. Click to enable anonymous access"
