I've recently been forced into using XP in the workplace, and
after patching the machine up, I've noticed that browsing to an .exe
results in a 404. Normally, I'd consider this a 'good thing', but...
I have several 'web consoles' that I use (OpenManage, etc) but
one in particular is for Trend's OfficeScan product. The desktop
shortcut is a URL to an exe on a server on the local lan. I've checked
IE's settings inside and out (or so I think, anyway), googled, hit the
MS KB and asked around my circle of gurus. No one has a clue.
So, do any of the recent patches for IE6 cause this behavior?
If so, can it be undone?
