You could try using a real ISP. I bet that'll clear up your problem. AOL
uses proprietary connectivity software, and one of the most contrived webs
of proxy and content servers the world over. The traffic you're seeing is
probably measuring throughput, response time, or something else that AOL
cares about so that you can be routed to some system or another.
