There are other reasons for anonymity, that don't involve malicious abuse.

Consider, for instance, the alt.support hierarchy in Usenet - and
particularly those that deal with people suffering abuse from their parents
or their partners. How many of these would gladly post openly their
concerns? Then there's the whistleblowers, pointing out things that would
cost them their job, but which may save taxpayers' money, or maybe even
lives.

Anonymity isn't the bad thing here. It may make it harder to track the
person doing the bad thing, but it is not, in itself, bad.
