Access to Sharing of drives is given from the Network
properties in a system that is already on a network.
Sharing can totally be disabled, again from the Network
properties in a system that is already on a network.
Network properties can be locked from the registry or
Network's Control Panel File can be deleted / renamed to
restrict the change in network properties. But our users
are too smart, if we restrict sharing, they find new
concepts/ideas to force us to open sharing and if sharing
is allowed, whole computer is found to be full shared
instead of a folder for emergency usage. The user has been
educated hundreds of times that in case of emergency only
one folder on the system is to be shared and that too in
READ ONLY Mode. But......
Restricted sharing can be achieved in the Windows 2000
systems by creating users with restricted rights. Infact,
In Windows 2000, the user can totally be restricted to
his / her area of working only.
The Problem: Can the same (Restricted Sharing) be done
with Windows 98 through registry/external software??
