Update?

A couple of weeks ago I was burned by a phony E-mail
supposedly from Microsoft that supposedly contained
security updates but actually contained the Swen virus.

Now I have receive a pop-up from Windows offering to
install udpates of a "Cumulative Patch for Explorer 6"
(KB828750)

and a "Security Update for Media Player"
(KB828026).

How do I know if these are legitimate Windows Updates or
another phony virus scam?
