hello,
i recently had a few problems with my pre-loaded XP Home system, so i was
forced to re-install windows. I decided to reinstall Windows XP Pro on top
of the Home edition, and i instructed the Setup program to overwrite the
current instalation, which it did for the most part.
However (and this is a good thing), it left my "users" intact: the My
Documents folder, etc. The ''new'' users i created in setup had a suffix
attached to them, with the name of the comp...anyway thats not important.
I had some emails in Outlook Express, which would be saved in the
"Application Data" folder in the "Documents and Settings" folder, correct?
yes. well, i had forgotten to back these up...but now i want them. Problem
is, i had instructed the PREVIOUS xp installation to make these folders
"private", and now i cant access them: "...is not accessible Access is
Denied". I wanted to know wether there was a way to get past this and get my
files out..i AM of course, the Administrator of this computer...
thanks,
Roham
