Ed - you gave a large number of system processes and Microsoft servers with
which they communicate at times.

I have seen documentation, I believe, of each and every one of these
instances, and the explanation has always been innocent--i.e. no personally
identifiable information is being exchanged. Some of them can be eliminated
by checkboxes in configuration of, for example, media player, as I recall.

I don't have the resources or the patience to document them all for
you--you've spotted that they are communicating out, and that they are
talking to Microsoft.com domain machines, but nothing of the content of
those communications.

Maybe I'm a Polyanna. I suspect I have had more contact with Microsoft than
you have, and I have found their explanations believable (brainwashed??)
Another way to look at it might be, given the climate of public thinking
about Microsoft at the moment--don't you think, if there were personal data
flowing in those contacts--that somebody would have brought it to public
attention by now?

Anyway, if you want to find something bad about Microsoft dig a little
deeper--the public stuff you've spotted just isn't it, in my opinion.
