I use ZAP on five machines, having used the free versions before that. It
works and works well, requiring little attention. I wouldn't want to be
without it. That said, XP's built-in is certainly better than no protection
at all but for the price (free) I'd install ZAF and gain protection in both
directions rather than just inbound which is all that XP's provides. If you
are looking for even more protection, the simple act of installing an NAT
router between your modem and computer does wonders if you have an ethernet
connection. Of course you still need an anti-virus program which is kept up
to date and occasional scans with something like Spybot S&D are useful.
