I believe it is something else which is affecting how IE
searches for a Domain Name. I have downloaded a rather
lengthy hosts file to stop pop-ups and the like--and it
keeps being overwritten.

I have found 'best.exe' in my C: drive which seems to have
something to do with it.
I have also found 'my_teens' which is an application that
was located in my C:/WINNT/SYSTEM32, naming it a system
file.

I downloaded the 'Ad-aware' as suggested by Mike, and
while it did find quite a bit of software on my PC, it did
not fix the problem at hand.

What else can I do?
What is the downfall to downloading a firewall?
Will a firewall even fix this problem since it has already
begun?

Side note--anti-virus software has also proven ineffective.
