I have a Win2000 network with approx. 40 users and various
application specific user accounts. I have accounts set
to lock out after 3 failed attempts. Lately I have been
having seemingly random accounts being locked out.
Recently I have been having almost all of them locked out,
even the application specific accounts. This seems to be
happening farily quickly, say over a period of minutes. I
will notice that my account is locked out, then checking
others, find that almost all of them are locked out as
well.
I thought maybe some one was trying to guess passwords on
the higher-access rights accounts, but now it appears as
if a process maybe trying to "guess" any/all passwords. A
possible trojan at work? I have Netshield running on all
of my servers, but not on the workstations. Ideas?
