To reduce the spyware you need to configure your browser to have
more secure settings. It is always a balance between convenience and
security. By hardening your privacy/cookie handling settings and web
content sites security levels you can drastically reduce your amount of
spyware, etc. I put my privacy setting at high and then configure my often
visited sites to be exempt from the default level. Then I set the security
level for the 'internet zone' to high and put my trusted sites into the
trusted site web content zone where I configure the security settings to be
a bit higher than default. That in conjunction with daily updated antivirus,
pop up stopper, and a firewall that also controls outbount access by port,
protocol, ip address AND application [Kerio - free for personal use], allows
me to browse internet fairly well and safely without picking up a ot of
junk. --- Steve
