How to read *.EVT files

Hi
I'm trying to read an application .evt file, problem is
the file was saved while the event logging was still
activated, now i get the error message
Unable to complete the operation on "Saved Application
Log".
The event log file is corrupted.

I need to be able to read this .evt file from a few weeks
ago as it is the only copy of the file.

Is there shareware / payable piece of software that could
read this file..???

you help would be greatly appricated
