unable to get into secure web sites

We had some problems with our anti virus and in
correcting those prob. we lost the ability to get into
our hotmail and our on-line banking. Talked to ATT,
Gateway, the bank, etc. and even changing settings, etc.
still can not get in these web sites - I get a
message " The page cannot be displayed" and down at the
bottomg of the page - mess= cannot find server or DNS
Error. Can anyone help? Thanks!
