I use my smtp to send requests to those asking for a pass into my site. If
they ask from hotmail my smtp server sends it to Bulk Mail in Hotmail. That
is if I have as a return address in the email hotmail.com. But if I put my
ISP's POP3 email address Hotmail will deliver the mail to the Inbox. But
what has happened here is that I cannot send an email to my POP3 account and
my ISP tells me it is because 60 days or so ago they started blocking mail
from a Server which has an IP address that is DHCP assigned. Of course they
know mine is hell they assigned it. But they are trying to convince me that
they can just tell from any ole IP address whether it was assigned by a DHCP
server. So I asked. And then I asked if it is possible to forge the
headers so that they cannot tell it was from a DHCP assigned address. And I
also wanted to know if mail ISP servers go to such lengths to protect the
customer from SPAM, why then don't they just check whether the headers in
the mail are forged or not? I get 20+ SPAMS a day at my POP3 mailbox and
believe me none of the headers in any of the mail are even close to
truthful.
-- George Hester George, I think they just want you to pay for a static IP.
