Installing downloaded security updates

After all update files for Windows98 successfully
downloaded from the Microsoft website,upon installing a
message came up: to load "default file from disk", I
clicked OK (although I do not know where this file is on
what disk, apparently the install program could not find
it on my hard drive)things locked up and then finally a
message came up saying "asycficy.dll on default cannot be
found" Consequently some files were not successfully
installed. Can anyone help with this?
