Hi,
We've got two computers connected to ADSL phone line via a router/modem.
I run xp pro, my girlfriend W98SE, both with antivirus and zonealarm.
Since yesterday we can't access newsgroups (via outlook express) on the
second pc. I had the same problem (temporarily) on my own pc and the error
message read:
400 Too Many Connections [plusnet-users allows 4 per host/0 per feed (0 ==
nolimit)] (Typhoon v1.2.3) Configuration: Account: xxx@plusnet....
since I wasn't sure if it meant what I thought it meant, I checked (no, not
how many pcs are connected, but whether there's no other soft (download
accelerator, etc) running. There was none.
I must admit another abnormality, I tried yesterday but I couldn't I access
my modem configuration page (via http:\\).
To be more precise, the default password won't work, which means that either
I got it wrong or somebody else changed it. Definitely neither of us did it,
so...
Why did I NOT change it originally? Well, I DID try when I got the modem,
but it wouldn't save new password, despite several attempts, so for the sake
of getting on-line quick I let it go. Bad.
With the problems today (still no newsgroups on other pc, basically a
timeout error) and very, very slow loading of web pages on the other pc I
start to wonder...
I have two options I haven't had time to try out yet.
1. call my provider's support and ask for suggestions (will do).
2. re-set my modem to default and try to reset the password to something
else (will try)
However I'd appreciate any thoughts and suggestions ref.above.
regards,
marek
