Ever heard of antivirus? www.grisoft.com is free. Virus? Antivirus.
Virus? Antivirus. Formatting is NOT antivirus, and is usually done too
often when it isn't necessary. Formatting and reinstalling your OS does
nothing at all if you reinstall it the same way that let your computer be
compromised in the first place.

I've been running Windows for many years and have never had a virus.

Both Linux and Windows are extremely insecure in the default settings....
ESPECIALLY Red Hat, which is the one I bet you've got. If you can't secure
Windows, your Linux is going to be hacked too, and fairly quickly. If
you're able to learn how to use and secure Linux, then using and securing
Windows should be a snap by comparison.

If you don't believe me, go to the list of vulnerabilities at www.cert.org
and look at the ones that affect Windows. I could be wrong, but I also
think there have been more Red Hat bugs and patches found so far this year
than Windows ones, especially if you include the bugs in the third party
apps that are often distributed with Linux, like OpenSSL, etc.

You clearly haven't read this newsgroup at all if you think Microsoft
deletes all the derogatory posts. There are plenty, and they stay here.
