If you're getting Windows Messenger service messages, your firewall isn't
blocking NetBIOS, which can be extremely dangerous. You should confront
Norton with this information and insist on an explanation and a fix.
Specifically, Messenger uses port 135 [either TCP or UDP, I think UDP but I
can't remember]. Check your Norton firewall logs for incoming packets on
135 and whether the firewall blocked them.
If Norton doesn't give you an answer, try writing a rule or a configuration
setting within Norton to block TCP and UDP 135.
