You have a few options: try uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling IE...
or try calling Microsoft at the support numbers listed at
www.microsoft.com/support Not sure what you mean when you say you checked
Passport, but their web page does indeed claim that support calls related to
security patches are free. However, you may be asked to uninstall and
reinstall, so it may be best to try that first and document exactly what
happens, if that fails to fix the problem.
