The reason spybot messed with your Works suite is that whenever you start
it and it detects that you are online, it attempts to connect to microsoft
with information about your computer.

Most people consider anything that "phones home" without their knowledge
or consent to be spyware, at that is why it is included in Spybot SD.

When you ran spybot, after it scanned your HD it poped up a window with
it's findings and allowed you to review and de-select anything before it
deleted them... You shouldn't delete anything you aren't sure about.

Spybot is a very powerful program and it clearly states that some programs
may not function properly after removing the spyware, it also states
throughout the program that you use it at your own risk.

Fortunately, the authors were insightful enough to realize that a lot of
people will click on things without reading them, or may delete things
that they shouldn't, so they built in a recovery feature. If you start
spybot up again, right under the spybot icon is another icon labeled
recovery and has a picture of a first aid kit on it.

If you click on the picture of the first aid kit, it will pop up a window
listing all the files it has removed from your system. You can then find
which file MS works is complaining about and restore it. Don't just
restore everything because you will be re-installing the dialer to wanted
to remove in the first place.
