I noticed a new program was added to my windows system
file when my firewall asked if I wanted to give it
internet access. an additionally program had been added at
the same time these were LEXPLORER.EXE AND MPTASK.EXE. The
properties said they were microsoft programs. I had not
downloaded them from Microsoft. these programs were also
added to my startup configuration. I did a search and
found mptask was referenced in many other files. these
programs passed virus and trojan checking. I deleted all
files that referenced mptask, cleaned the register and
reloaded windows ME. I have sent a report to Microsoft
support questioning these programs but no answer about
them. I think they are some kind of spy ware and would
like to know if they are microsoft products and if so who
they are giving them to.
Thanks.
