First of all, you can find a special group for STS on this news server.
That would be the best place to ask about this.
STS has a wizard under Site Administration > Server Health > Check Server
Health that is supposed to "tighten security" among other things. If you
run that wizard with the "Repair" option checked, you'll disable seamless
authentication accross the LAN.
