You should look into the hardware security keys that are used on portable
computers, typically uses an USB or serial port interface. This assumes you
don't mind locking the key away during the off hours and digging it out
otherwise.
I would be very hesitant to suggest that for a kid into hacking that any
software condition on the computer itself will be effective, just more
educational! The more creative you get, the more creative he gets.
