Currently version of Spytbot S&D Teatimer module is NOT causing problems,
and happily co-exists with AVG 8.5 | Windows Defender | + several other real
time scanners that I prefer to not mention :-)
....agreed Norton is bloatware, and its' Liveupdate component does indeed
stick its' nose into places where it has no right to stick it !

Ken
What you got was a false positive caused by AdAware generated by ZA. This
is a know fact on the latter. My recommendation is as follows
Get rid of Zone Alarm and use the Windows Firewall. Nothing better. Good
thing you removed AdAware since it is a bloat and produces false positives
much more lately. Also remove Spybot since it is also becoming a bloat and
the tea timer is causing more trouble then worth. Not to many people are
fans of Norton including myself since it causes too many issues and I
consider Symantec to be a virus by itself.
Install an AV like Avast,Nod32,Karpensky which are more compatible and
work just as good if not better than Norton. (Norton, MacAfee,Trend you
should stay away from)
Install Malwarebytes free edition which will not expire and update daily.
Replaces AdAware and Spybot plus removes and finds malware

SuperAntiSpyware free edition (Also as above )

Using XP Pro (OEM) w/sp3 & IE 7. Also have installed Spyware Blaster,
AVG 8.5 (free) New version of SpyBot Search & Destroy and current version
of ZoneAlarm (free). I did have AdaWare 2008. That is were my problems
started. I opened AdaWare and hit "update" I do not know how but after
downloading the definitions I ended up with Malrware and remember I used
AdaWare to update the definitions. Would REALLY like advice on this.
This infected both my machines that I use. But I did have a disk image
(all though it was 5 months old) and now have both machine up and running.
I do not want to install AdaWare after what happened. I am looking for a
alternative program. I hear that Norton 2009 or Norton 360 vers. 3 is not
the resource hog that previous versions were. Is this correct?? I am
open to advice and recommendations on this. I also hve told that If I do
go with Norton that I have to unistall ZoneAlarm, which I really like.
Thank you,
Ken A.
