It began last week when I could not install Stinger. After
downloading it repeatedly, I still got the same message "stinger, exe
is not a valid Win32 application" I tried downloading it on two other
computers with the same result.
Now, I can not download and install anything. Attempts to get an on
line scan from both McAfee and Panda were un successful. The Active X
would appear to be downloading but after half an hour of that,
nothing happened. Repeated attempts gave the same result.
Avast, AdAware. SpyBot, Windows Defender and SuperAnntispyware could
find nothing. I googled the not a valid............. but I could not
identify my problem from any of the hits. I read back in this group
as well.
Can anyone tell me what the virus is and why all 3 machines in the
house are acting the same way? Please!!!

It appears you are infected with a virus. See if the following info provides
a solution;
Dave Lipman's tools:
Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp
(The download is only available from the above site, which is in German, but
it doesn't matter. Just scroll to the bottom of the page for the download
link and proceed from there.)
Download and install on a friends computer, update it, then burn the
AV_CLS folder to a CD, boot your computer in safe mode, copy it, then
run it - has 4 good AV scanners in it.
