After much thought,Nick Goetz aka nbg@xxxxxxxxxxxx came up with this
jewel:
Strange thread???
After refering back through the original thread (link from Todd),
looked to me like Todd was clear enough on what he was looking for
and repeated his question a few times. Some assumptions where made
causing the thread to take off in a direction unintended by the
original poster (Todd).
Anyway... dumping on Todd was a bit unfair in light of his entire
post.
Nick Goetz
I just read the thread. Here is the original post:
"First: I do not have a virus. Kaspersky 30 day demo
removed it completely. Please do not send me links
to malware removers.
The Zolob virus starts in the registry in the winlogon
keys. Becuase of this, it even runs in safe mode.
And processes started in the winlogon keys all
show up as a single "winlogon" entry on the processes
tab of the task manager.
Is there a third party tool process tool that will allow me to
see these processes and kill them as desired? A way
to tell the task manager to "show all"?"
The first thing he said is that he does not have a virus because
Kaspersky Demo cleaned a Zolob infection. If he is really running
*nix, what is he wanting windows tools for? How did he get the Zolob
infection in the first place? I doubt his system is malware free. He
needs some instruction on keeping malware from entering in to begin
with. Todd should scan his system with a few more tools just to be sure
it is really free and clear from malware. I think he should start with
HiJackThis and then post the results in a HJT forum. Most users should
not mess with the registry unless they are "guided" otherwise they can
render the system useless. By the way,I have links to many tools Todd
may need on my pages. http://home.neo.rr.com/manna4u/tools.html
