The advice you have been given is good. No one refused to provide
information. Information you could easily get via a Google search if
you know as much as you presume. If you don't ask the right question,
and if you persist in following your narrow quest without
communicating what that quest is, then you should expect EXACTLY what
you got. You took up a lot of newgroup participants time, you got a
lot of good information. Yet you see yourself as the injured party.
Get over it. Take the usenet behavior advice, or be prepared to face
a dwindling respone to ANY questions you ask.

| Hi Mike, Len, and Phil,
|
| I apologize that my frustrated post offended you. To truly
| understand my frustration, you should read the post that Dave
| followed me over to this group with:
|
|
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/brows
e_thread/thread/ab8d20a3073d5d0b/?hl=en#
|
| I was trying to get one question answered: "Is there a third
| party tool process tool that will allow me to see these processes
| and kill them as desired? " I stated VERY clearly that I did
| not have a virus. I stated that it was a theory question
| several times.
|
| Dave and others decided I had a virus and refused to
| answer the question. I posted to this group out of frustration,
| thinking that it would have a more professional attitude.
|
| Now, for asking the question (on the other group),
|
| 1) I got mis-quoted and told "You aren't clean, you said
| it yourself" when I said no such thing by Dave,
|
| 2) I got snotted on by poprivet
| "Too bad; otherwise you could be helped",
|
| 3) After reiterating I had no virus, again from Dave, I got
| "You are making faux conclusions and trying to
| heal your computer without the knowledge
| needed. This is a bad combo. ... I suggest you gather ALL
| the facts, including any/all anti virus logs like Kaspersky,
| and create a new post. Here's a good place to do so...
| news:microsoft.public.security.virus "
|
| 4) I got psychoanalyzed by Dave,
| "You are in denial. Your PC is NOT clean"
|
| 5) At this point, I posted on your groups, hoping to shake Dave.
| He followed me over and still wanted all kinds of information
| I was not about to send him. Still he refused to answer the
| question.
|
| 6) When I could not find the software that CreateWindow recommended
| at Microsoft downloads, I got called a liar by Dave
| "You didn't look.."
| By the way, my mistake was looking for the software at "Microsoft
| Downloads"
| as CreateWindow recommended. The software is actually at TechNet.
| My bad search:
|
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=&freetext=Process
%20Explorer&DisplayLang=en
|
| 7) Finally, after an a long letter to Dave, again explaining I
| did not have a virus (I AM RUNNING LINUX FOR GOODNESS SAKES),
| he finally sent me the link I was looking for.
|
| To be fair to Dave, he also wrote a very informative letter about
| the registry and where winlogon virus hid.
|
| 8) Finally, "Ytrx" told me I should not the asking "How to".
| And, he is correct. I should be asking "How do I...?"
|
|
| Now I hope you understand my frustration. I went to
| the doctor with a broken arm and came out with a cast on my leg.
| It was like dealing with a (telephone) cold caller from hell.
| (Although Dave did come through swimmingly in the end.)
|
| So, Mike, Len, and Phil, I am an open minded kind of a
| guy. I would appreciate you three writing a short blurb showing me
| after you got mis-quoted, snotted on, psychoanalyzed, followed
| to another newsgroup, and called a liar, how you would have
| responded to get everyone back on track and off
| the virus tangent?
|
| Just a sentence or two will do. I would really appreciate the help.
| I promise I won't ask for a refund.
|
| Sincerely,
| -T
| p.s. Yes, the "T" stands for "Todd". And yes,
| Margo is a really cool chick.

Strange thread???
After refering back through the original thread (link from Todd), looked
to me like Todd was clear enough on what he was looking for and repeated
his question a few times. Some assumptions where made causing the thread
to take off in a direction unintended by the original poster (Todd).
Anyway... dumping on Todd was a bit unfair in light of his entire post.
