Magic Mail and Save the Item Prefernece Password

I posted a message similar to this maybe 2 weeks ago. The Earthlink NG access died for quite a long time, so I haven't been able to see recent posts. At that time I mistakenly thought the File->Password had something to to do with the server password. It doesn't. It's the password used by Item Properties accessed by right clicking on an Alias item (line). Although this allows me to set my server password, it does not stick when I leave MM. I've tried using Apply in the Item Properties dialog, but that doesn't seem to do it. Comments?

I suppose if you want some connection with viruses, MM allows me to control my mail at the server level. ...
