First, Did you Open the said Email????
Did your antiV scan it first???
(I have a free antiV, and its scans Everything that comes into
my comp!)
Adaware and such are programs you run to 'check' for problems
once they are on your system, they will NOT stop them from coming.
Any email that 'YOU' believe is not quite cosha, should be checked
by 'you' the computer user.
(just like you check to see how much petrol is in your car, or how
much air is in the tyres)
If you want to 'check' an email that you consider 'semi-dangerous', just
'right-click' on it, then "properties", then "details", then "message
source",
the Expand it and look at it........
You will soon know what to do from there.
Yes, this is safe, unless Guru lipman says otherwise.

| I have opened an email that may have contained a virus but can you get
| viruses from just opening an e-mail only? I am scanning my computer with
| Ad-Aware SE, Windows Defender (beta 2) and Norton Antivirus 2004, do
| think I have done enough to make sure my computer is not infected byNorton AV.
| anything? nothing strange has happened so since I opened the e-mail.
|
| If you could answer the two questions that would be great thanks.
It depends.
Ad-Aware SE, Windows Defender (beta 2) will nOT work with email, only
then thhe virus
If the email body of the email uses exploit code and your PC is un-patched
bearing attachment could be executed.
This will also depend on your email client.
