Back up your data and either do a restore to factory condition OR back
up your data and take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop. No offense to your friend, but Geek Squad and the other
BigStoreUSA type of "computer tech support" are not recommended.
However, for a simple factory restore they might be OK. A real computer
tech might be able to clean up the machine without restoring to factory
condition, depending on the extent of the infections of course.
