Keeping yourself safe from identity thieves

The only thing on the top of my head that I can think of adding to this article is to read email in plain text by default -- block those html images folks and only see them when you are sure they are safe.
Make sure you have a good anti-virus program as well as several good anti-spyware programs and be careful where you download the programs. I have found certain sites such as majorgeeks.com to be fairly safe but always scan the file that you are downloading for baddies as an extra precaution.
