QUESTION: Does this kind of a plain-text email program give me 100%
protection against malware in email?
There used to be a time when plain text messages containing well crafted
ANSI sequences could wreak havoc on computers. I don't think that's
possible with today's graphic interfaces (although it might still happen
on terminal consoles in the *nix world).
However, there are plain text strings which will trigger virus detection
programs - EICAR.
