Just to ask... how's that going so far? Got the problem over, or not?
Otherwise, my other (two-bit) suggestion for older / out-of-warranty /
second-hand PCs is to get an old HDD, install a cheap/free OS on it, and
load on system tools for when the "box goes bust". Only plug it in if the
main drive's kaput, with the main drive on secondary. Then you can at least
check to see if it's hardware or software.
Advised; new-computer owners or those with warranties still intact are -not-
advised to do this...

I seem to have a nasty boot virus on my PC that is preventing me from
withstarting up my hard drive. I already tried my boot disks and booting
havemy
antivirus software to scan the drive, neither of them have worked. I
theWindows XP professional. What happens is, I start up, and it gets all
loaderway
to the Windows XP loading screen in which there is a bar and a blue
sothat moves across the bar. It is on this screen for about 5 seconds or
inand
then after that for a split second there is a Blue screen that flashes
andwhich white lettering and numbers slides down the screen, the computer
then
restarts on it's own. It will continue going through this process over
everover again preventing me from "fully" starting up the PC. I've never
fromseen this blue screen before, and assume it is a virus preventing me
starting up Windows XP and my hard drive. Any suggestions besides
re-formatting my hard drive?
