Re: WMP keeps starting on its own

Thanks for the reply. After messing with this machine for hours over
the course of a couple of weeks and trying all kinds of virus/malware
apps, I finally found the culprit. The relatively new Microsoft
Natural Multimedia Keyboard apparently has two keys that are stuck --
the "My Music" key and the "Mute" key. I replaced the keyboard and
everything is fine. Thanks again...

To All:
I have a machine that just recently started executing Windows Media
Player on its own. It will continually start itself once you close it.
I tried removing all versions of WMP and then downloading and
installing
WMP10, but it continues to start automatically.
I then tried fixing it by taking the virus/malware angle. I used
Ad-aware,
Spybot, ewido, Dr. Web Cureit, and Hijack This to help remove any
instigators.
They all found something and repaired/deleted/quarantined the culprits.
However, the problem persisted. So, I removed WMP totally.
Once, I did that, the sound on the machine automatically started
muting itself intermittently. Has anyone encountered these types of
problems?

Russ
