i was wondering is there any small, yet complete antivirus which could
be installed onto my usb flash disk (1 gb) and it should scan for
viruses when i copy or move some files onto my flash disk.
A USB flash drive is just a device. You can send data to it or request data
from it. Therefore it is not possible to have it acting as an independant
computer when attached to your PC. For that to happen you would need to be
able to boot it separately (in a manner that is similar to booting a client
PC and then connecting to a server).
Some USB flash drives have a read/write tab like floppy disks and can be
useful for carrying independant scanning software from one machine to
another. However, scanning a machine that might already be infected is not a
reliable process. The malicious software will probably be able to block, or
deceive, the scan.
Realistically, you need some form of clean boot to scan properly.
There is a way to make USB devices bootable using Motto Hairu, though I have
never tried it. I have successfully used Motto Hairu to access a USB flash
drive from a DOS boot. You do have to fiddle and footer with the settings
though and I wouldn't recommend it unless it was really the only option
left.
